This is an Ericson 46. Hull 5. Originally named "Velero III" and purchased by Dr. Doug Wake in 1973. Velero III was raced extensively on the Great Lakes and was kept at Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit, MI. In November, 1978 this yacht was purchased by Robert Yuhn, renamed "Red Apple" and kept at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club from 1978 thru 1994.
This photo was taken during the 1986 Port Huron to Mackinac Island Yacht Race. This is a wonderfully heavy duty all purpose racer/cruiser yacht.
